I thought I’d do something a little different today. “A Day in the Life” posts are some of my favorite ones to read on other blogs, so I decided to give it a try. It’s actually not as easy as it looks. I attempted to do this on two other occasions, but kept forgetting to take pictures throughout the day. I still didn’t do the greatest job for this one, but it’s decent enough to make a post out of.
I picked last Friday because it was a pretty typical day for us . . . and also because I actually remembered about it right when I woke up!
I wake up every morning between 5:30 and 6:00. I remember reading in a pregnancy book that if your children are waking you up in the morning then you are sleeping an hour too late . . . and boy does that apply to me! In order to be a happy mama, I need to be showered and get my morning chores done before the girls wake up.
Ready to start the day!
After I get ready I feed the dogs . . .
. . . and empty the dishwasher. I also start Matty’s coffee. #numberonewifey
On this particular morning, my plan was foiled because Lucy woke up before 7am! It happens sometimes, and I deal with it. As long as I’m showered and dressed, I can get the other stuff done with the girls awake . . . it just takes longer.
Somebody wasn’t ready for her close up yet.
This guy headed off to work and left me on my own with two crazy girls!
My printer quit working, so I spent some time trying to fix it before Emily woke up. It was a lost cause, though. I can’t complain . . . I’ve had it for 17 years!!
This sweet girl woke up happy as a clam at 7:30.
Both of our girls usually wake up pretty happy, which is so nice!
After breakfast and some playtime (totally forgot to take any pictures!), Emmy Roses went down for her morning nap. Lucy and I played dress up for a bit . . .
. . . and then she colored while I did some laundry.
Side Note: I ordered these trays from Amazon a few weeks ago, and they are awesome! They come in a pack of four, are dishwasher safe, and have been working great for coloring/crafting/painting, etc.
After nap time, we loaded up and headed to Target.
A new printer, diapers, and a ton of other stuff caused Lucy to have to walk instead of ride in the cart. Don’t worry, mom, I didn’t let her ride like this through the whole store . . . just one aisle!
I try my best to avoid cooking on Fridays; it’s my reward for making through the week. I picked up a bowl of soup and some break from Panera for the girls and I to split. Easy and delicious lunch!
After lunch, Lucy helped me clean up our exersaucer because we had sold it and someone was coming to pick it up. Such a cute little helper!
Then I gave Lucy my phone, and she took a few very thought-provoking pictures.
Around 2:00, Emily went down for her afternoon nap, and Lucy went in her crib for some rest time with her Kindle.
And then I tackled the mess we had created!
We got back from Target right at lunch time, so unpacking the bags had to take a backseat to feeding two hangry girls. Ok, three hangry girls.
Lucy and I had a little snack picnic on the floor in her room before Em woke up.
Lulu loves being the first one to go in and hop up on Emmy’s crib when she wakes up at 4:00.
A rare sweet sister moment!
Matty came home and brought Buddy’s Salad for dinner. Woo hoo!
After dinner, there’s always some crazy daddy play time while I clean up the kitchen.
After baths and bedtime for the girls (again, no pics!), we settled in for our Friday night meal planning. I always have a little snack while we do it.
Then I showered, put in some laundry, and painted my nails.
Around 9:00 we were finally ready to relax . . . and decided to do our own thing, which is kind of rare. Matty wanted to watch the movie It, and there was no way in hell I was going to watch that with him! It’s just asking for a sleepless night. #noclowns #ever
So I worked on a blog post . . .
. . . and edited some pictures before watching an episode of This is Us. Which is basically as far away from It as you can get.
I forgot to snap a pic of my phone screen, but we called it a night around 11:30. That’s way late for both of us, but I seem to be able to stay awake later on the weekends because I know I’m going to have help the next day.
Hope you enjoyed the post!
See you tomorrow for Life Lately.
XOXO
