We had a busy end of the week and weekend!
Emmy is trying so hard to pull herself up on things. Her new favorite spot is Lucy’s chair. Em loves the chair, but doesn’t always get to play with it because Lucy will move it away. #naughtybigsister
Normally I try to avoid posting embarrassing pictures of myself, but this one is pretty funny. Lucy has been into playing “beauty salon” lately. She loves to brush my hair (amazing!), and then follows it up with all the clips she can fit on my head! These things get heavy!
Thankfully, I was eventually able to convince Lucy to turn her attention to her stuffies instead. We put capes on them, and they each got a turn at Lucy’s beauty salon.
And they posed for a picture (taken by Lucy) when they were done.
This cart seemed like a great idea at first. And then Emmy’s innocent little leg kicks turned into Lucy purposely kicking her back. Insert a “weight of the world on her shoulders” mama sigh right here. #cantwin
Fresh Thyme has a great little farm stand set up with free treats for kids. They have raisins, bananas, clementines, raisins, and . . . . suckers! ugh! Which of those doesn’t belong? Anyway, I threatened to take away Lucy’s banana if she kicked again, and it worked. #thankgoodness
We had a successful trip, and no one had to be removed from their seat!
Back at it again!
When you want a treat so badly that you’re willing to eat your carrots . . . but you aren’t happy about it! #dinnerwithatwoyearold #almosteverynight
We went to a preschool open house Thursday evening, and I couldn’t believe how impressive the classroom was! I do think the classroom environment plays a big role in students’ (and teachers) ability to learn and have fun, and this one did not disappoint. We still have two other schools to check out, but we were very happy with this one.
Ok, get ready for lots of pictures from Funtastic! We met a bunch of friends there Friday morning, and it was super crowded. At first Lucy just sat by me. She eventually found this rocking horse and stayed there most of the time.
Emily, as you’ll see in the following pictures, was living her best life!
Of course, about ten minutes before it was time to go home for lunch it really cleared out and Lucy started playing more. Our admission was good for the entire day, so I decided to take the girls back after Emmy’s afternoon nap. There were only four other kids there playing so Lucy felt much more comfortable.
She REALLY wanted to swing from the monkey bars all by herself. Almost everything there is soft, so I decided to let her do her thing for a bit and see what transpired. She started stacking up blocks to stand on . . .
. . . but they were too soft, and she couldn’t quite reach.
Then she made a higher stack but realized she couldn’t climb up to the top.
You guys, she seriously worked on this all by herself for like 20 minutes. Surprisingly, the other kiddos seemed to respect the fact that she was working on something and they stayed away from this area. She finally dragged over a large, firm, “rainbow” block that worked like a charm!
She was SO PROUD of herself, and I think I was even prouder! Once she finally did it, she yelled, “Look, friends! Look what I did!” It was so sweet!
Here’s a little video:
We went to the dog show on Saturday . . . and I have zero pictures of any dogs! It was very crowded, and I was more concerned with not running into anybody with our new stroller! You better believe that the girls were decked out in their best doggie outfits, though, and had a great time!
On Sunday we celebrated Gordie’s 4th Birthday. He wanted a Christmas themed party, and because Carla is such a great mama, she left all of their decorations up! There really is no way I could leave my tree up that long. I’d be so sick of it! Check out the awesome Christmas tree cake!
In case you haven’t noticed from the Funtastic pictures, Emily loves doing her “oh no!” trick. I’ll say, “Emmy, oh no!” and she puts her hands up on her face and it’s just the cutest thing!
#armrolls
We stopped at my mom and dad’s after the party, and Lucy couldn’t even wait to take off her coat before building with their blocks.
And then she became a doctor/cheerleader/princess.
Lucy is going through a major dress up phase, and wanted to wear her Halloween costume Sunday night!
She’s also really working hard on her photography skills.
Matty is in Mexico for work this week. #ugh #noooo #hurryhome
Anyway, we were pulling things out that he needed to pack, and Lucy kept taking them to my bedside table to build this little castle. The other day she asked me how the space heater worked and if we could take it apart to look inside. She is definitely Matty’s daughter!
A couple things to note about this picture: 1. Matty doesn’t normally travel with pink shaving cream, but he forgot to put it on the list for Target, so now he gets to use mine! 2. I am SLIGHTLY obsessed with keeping him healthy while he’s away because he often comes back and gets sick! This time we’re taking some preemptive measures, and he’s taking medicine with him just in case. Not pictured is the travel pack of Clorox wipes that I got him so he can wipe down the seatbelt, window shade, arm rest, and tray table on the plane. You might be rolling your eyes, but we both had the flu last year and both ended up in urgent care! #notdoingthatagain
So that’s about it. Here’s hoping the week goes by quickly and that we all have a healthy, happy reunion!
Have a great week!
XOXO
