Happy New Year!!
What better way to ring in a new year then to review the year before! I probably should have posted this yesterday, but I’m a little behind on the blogging. New resolution for 2018?? Perhaps!
2017, you were very good to us!
Other than 2006 and 2015, it was my favorite year yet! ๐
We were so fortunate again to have nothing but good things happen to us in 2017, and I can only hope that 2018 brings much of the same. Except not a new baby. I don’t need a third baby for 2018!! Babies are always a blessing. But no thank you! ๐
Here’s a brief-ish (yeah, right) look back on our crazy year.
January
We rang in 2017 with a MAJOR sleep regression for Lucy. Seriously, we still remember/talk about it. Here’s a pic of her after she literally fell asleep standing up after screaming in her crib for hours!
We also enjoyed some unseasonably warm weather!
And took advantage of having a dedicated playroom for a final few precious weeks before we started converting it into Emily’s nursery.
February
We started off February by celebrating my birthday.
Lucy and her friends had an adorable Valentine’s Day play date.
We explored the aquarium at Great Lakes Crossing.
Enjoyed more unseasonably warm weather. . . seriously, she’s not even wearing a coat . . in February!
My mom, Rita, and Carla threw a little “sprinkle” for baby Emily.
And we celebrated Matty’s birthday at his favorite fast food restaurant!
March
March was a HUGE month for us. We knew Emily was arriving on the 31st (or sooner!), so we soaked up as much time with our sweet Lucy Belle as we could.
My mama friends threw me another sprinkle!
Lucy took the most awkward Easter picture ever.
We took a day trip to Grand Rapids to visit the Beatons and their sweet baby boy.
And then, on March 31st, sweet little Emily Rose was born and ROCKED OUR WORLD!
April
We spent the month of April adjusting to becoming a family of four, which wasn’t always easy.
Lucy randomly got to meet a firefighter, see the truck, and get a badge.
And we celebrated our first Easter as a family of four!
May
At the beginning of May, I successfully got all three of us ready and took Lucy on a little trip to the playground all by myself . . . for the first time.
Matty installed our trampoline!
I shopped for Lucy’s birthday party with my new little sweetheart.
We continued our battle with colic. I remember this night, and I’m fairly certain this pic was taken around 10pm. I was so happy to finally get Emily to stop crying, and it lasted just about long enough for Matty to take this picture!
Our sweet little Lucy Belle turned 2!!!
I snuck away one morning for a sprinkle for Nichole’s baby boy.
Emily made the most adorable faces ever.
And we loaded up for our first trip to the cottage as a family of four!
June
In June, I successfully took both girls to Greenfield Village with Carla and her kiddos.
Miss Roses wore the cutest outfit ever, courtesy of my friend Lisa.
Pop opened up the pool for the summer, and Lucy couldn’t get enough!
Matty and I celebrated our 11th anniversary by going to dinner and a Tigers game with the Heinbuchs.
Eleanor Elizabeth Brennan was born!
And Lucy spent some time with Matty at work on their Take Your Child to Work Day.
July
We headed to the cottage for the 4th of July, where Matty and Lucy enjoyed the boat . . .
. . . and I enjoyed sleeping whenever Emmy would let me.
The Beatons came to visit, and Baby Theo showed us how he felt about Emily!
Emmy started giving the cutest smiles!
Lucy started gymnastics and loved it!
We managed to get all the kiddos together for a summer time play date.
I continued what would be an almost 7 month long snuggle fest with Emily so that she would stop crying and go to sleep!
We ended the month by celebrating my dad’s birthday and managed to get a semi-decent picture with all the grandbabies.
August
We started the month off with a weekend in Cedar Point!
Emmy Roses continued to get sweeter and sweeter.
And she wore the most ridiculous hat ever!
Matty went to Kentucky for the weekend for a work golf outing.
And I stayed home and tried (unsuccessfully) to potty train Lucy.
The mamas came over for a little late night gathering on our patio.
And Carla, my mom, and I took all the kiddos to Music in the Park.
September
We headed back up to the cottage for some Labor Day fun.
We had the busiest weekend ever with Matty’s work’s Family Day at the Detroit Zoo.
And then Emily Rose’s Baptism the next day!
Lucy started school!
And Emily started eating oatmeal.
Lucy finally figured out the most graceful way to conquer the curly slide.
And Emily looked super cute during her bath!
October
We started the month with our annual Scarf Exchange. Please ignore my hair . . . I got it cut later that week!
Emily sat in the grocery cart for the first time.
I figured out how to get both girls to nap at the same time.
And we did all the fun fall things!
November
Matty and I had a night without the girls, so we went out to dinner with the Crupis.
Emily started army crawling and hasn’t looked back.
Lucy took the most adorable school picture ever!
We celebrated Emmy’s first Thanksgiving!
Carla and I baked hundreds of cookies for Hood’s Hardware.
And Lucy and I got ready for all the Christmas baking!
December
The mamas went out for dinner and to see A Bad Moms Christmas.
Matty did our annual floor mopping.
Emily discovered the dogs!
Lucy enjoyed her first sled ride . . .
. . . and her first haircut!
And, of course, we did all things Christmas!
And we ended the month with Baby Eleanor’s Baptism.
Thank you so much for sticking it out to the end!
I can only hope that 2018 brings us as much joy as 2017 did.
Happy New Year!
XOXO
What a great year! Lucy loves to smile for photos now, but the akward Easter moment is my favoite of the non-smilers
