Happy Monday, friends! One week from today is Christmas!!
Eek!! I’m so excited for Lucy this year, and there’s so many Christmas activities I want to cram into this week before time runs out . . . but I doubt I’ll fit it all in. I’m excited for the week ahead, but I’m also already feeling tired just thinking about it!
Here’s what we’ve been up to over the past few days.
When Emmy Roses wakes up before her sister, she gets free reign over all the toys.
Sydney knows right where to sit during meal time!
We got a ton of snow last week, and the temperatures dropped super low. There was no way I was going to be stuck in the house two days in a row, so we bundled up and headed to Target.
Lucy is in the cart behind Emily. The girls were totally bundled up and seemed to enjoy our trek from the far out spots of the Target parking lot. Apparently it should not have been a snow day for people because the main roads were fine, and everyone was out and about.
We picked up a sled at Target! Running around the backyard pulling this little lady was quite the workout!
It took me a minute or two to realize that Lucy was doing a “one for me, one for you, one for Sydney” snack time. At least they were all getting along!
I love how much Lucy loves her stuffies!
I love wrapping Christmas gifts . . . when I can have a leisurely day of doing it while watching a great Christmas movie or listening to Christmas music. Unfortunately, the only time I have to wrap gifts these days is after the girls go to bed, and I’m usually not at my perkiest then. So, in an effort to simplify my wrapping this year, I put almost all of my gifts into bags . . . most of which I already owned! And I decided to not feel guilty about it.
She was reaching soooo high . . .
. . . and she got it!
On Friday, we went over to my friend Lisa’s house for a cookie decorating play date. There were four two-year-olds and three babies under a year old. The date involved cookie baking, decorating, and lunch. It was a very calm and organized morning. #yeahright #Christmaschaos
Miss Lisa let everyone pick a color of food coloring to add to their frosting. Lucy chose purple.
Sweet Catherine went heavy on the frosting.
And Greta got a little crazy with the sprinkles.
Lucy did a great job and loved her cookies . . . and wanted to eat them immediately, of course.
While the big girls worked on their cookies, Vaughn and Emily played nicely together.
After the play date, we dropped Emmy Roses off at home with Grandma Ri, and Lucy and I headed to Costco. Lucy decided she’d rather take a nap.
Emily really will follow her big sister anywhere!
I had some returns to do at the mall, and I wanted them out of my house, so Saturday morning we packed up and headed to 12 Oaks. I knew it was crazy to go the weekend before Christmas, and on the drive there we heard on the radio that it was the busiest shopping day of the year. Despite having to park waaay far away, it actually wasn’t too bad inside. We quickly did our returns, I picked up a few things at Loft (bonus!), and then we let Lucy play at the play area for a bit before heading out. We originally planned to eat lunch out somewhere, but Emily skipped her morning nap and we didn’t want to push our luck, so we picked up food and took it home. It was a great little Saturday morning outing!
The girls and I had an impromptu sleepover at Grandma Ri’s house Saturday night, and the girls enjoyed getting to play with different toys.
I had assumed that Lucy would sleep with Rita . . . but she only wanted to sleep with me. This girl kicks in her sleep like nobody’s business! She also brought a ton of stuffies. Needless to say, she slept better than I did!
Lucy woke up at 6:30 Sunday morning, which is not what you’re supposed to do at a sleepover! I rocked her for a bit after lunch and got her to take a nap for the first time in FOREVER! She and Emmy both slept at the same time for about two hours, and Matty and I were in heaven!
After nap, Lucy and I started making Peppermint Oreo Balls for Matty to take to work.
The beginning stages of a delicious treat!
And finally, let it never be said that the Kissels don’t make cute babies! hahaha
Lucy on the left at eight months, Emmy on the right at eight months.
I’m going to wrap this up because I need to go to bed and recover from that sleepover!
Have a great week! Don’t forget to slow down and do something Christmasy and enjoy the season. This is my week . . . the peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks is finally going to happen!
XOXO
