Hershey Kiss Pretzel Treats

December 19, 2017 by Molly 2 Comments

I loooove having Lucy bake with me, but sometimes she gets frustrated because she wants to do everything and I won’t let her. I found the perfect holiday baking activity to do with my sweet girl that allowed her to do almost everything herself! If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your toddler this week, these Hershey Kiss Pretzel Treats are for you!
Here are the ingredients. We experimented and tried some with regular M&Ms and some with peanut butter M&Ms. We love the peanut butter, but that’s just us! Oh, and you’ll need a husband to steal some of the candy, too.
And a cute little girl to eat the ingredients every step of the way!

First we lined a baking sheet with foil and laid out the pretzels. If I were doing this myself, I would have covered the entire cookie sheet with pretzels . . . but that would have taken forever for Lucy to do so we just did half.

Next, we unwrapped the Kisses and set one on top of each pretzel.

Emmy Roses had fun sitting in her chair watching us. I can’t wait until next year when she’ll be able to help!

After we put all the Kisses on the pretzels, they went into the oven on low heat for about seven minutes to soften up the chocolate. Lucy sat and watched the entire time.

*Before I pulled the pretzels out of the oven, Lucy got a very stern talking-to about not touching the cookie sheet. She did a great job and only almost touched it once.*
The next step is to place an M&M on top of each Kiss and smush it down. That’s a very technical baking term.

After all of the Kisses had been smushed, we put the tray into the refrigerator for an hour.

We let Lucy taste one before bed, and I think she was happy with her work!
The mess was minimal, but Lucy couldn’t resist licking her fingers every time she smushed down an M&M, so I didn’t serve these to anyone but us! This was an easy peasy way to let Lucy feel like she was actually baking in the kitchen. These treats are fun for kids and can be tailored to any holiday. They look super cute if you use the pink and red M&Ms at Valentine’s Day or the pastel ones at Easter. You could also use the white chocolate Hugs. The possibilities are endless!

Classroom Before and After

Happy First Day of School! I’m coming up for a very quick breath of air to share my classroom before and after pics. I signed my contract at 3:30pm last Tuesday . . . that’s one week ago today. There was a lot of excitement and a lot of tears. In the blink of one […]

Mrs. Kissel: 2nd Grade Teacher!

Surprise! There are three Kissel ladies going back to school this year. Emily starts Kindergarten, Lucy’s in 2nd grade…and I’m coming out of retirement to teach second grade!!! (Not Lucy’s class!) I was hired Monday afternoon, and the amount of overwhelm and range of emotions I’ve felt since then has been, well, overwhelming! To those […]
