Happy Thursday, friends!
I’m not sure what you’re up to today, but Christmas is coming early for me . . . people are coming to our house this morning to wash the inside and outside of our windows! (Insert praise hands emoji here. And the Hallelujah song.)
We used to be really good at washing our windows twice a year. Emphasis on “used.” Then we had babies and the windows fell low on our priority list. Our entire living room and kitchen are floor to ceiling windows facing south, so we get sun pretty much all day. So that means I get to look at our ridiculously dirty windows all day long. Thanks a lot, sunshine! But the dirty window saga ends TODAY! I’ll let you know how it goes . . . because I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat.
Ok, here’s a little life lately for your Thursday.
I’m loosely following a little bit of the baby led weaning method of feeding Emily. Which basically means I give her large chunks of whatever we’re eating and let her decide how much and what size bites she wants to eat. On a related note, I’ve also brushed up on my baby CPR and choking protocols.
Earlier this week I gave Emily a mini pancake (something I NEVER would have done with Lucy at this age, btw), and she decided that not only did she like it, but that she was going to shove the entire thing in her mouth. Literally. Mama went in and fished it all out . . . and then fed her some oatmeal instead.
A rare moment of the girls playing together. Lucy had her Thomas the Train driving all over the house, and Emily army crawled her way all around to follow it.
We had two beautifully mild days in a row and definitely took advantage of them. We went for a walk downtown Plymouth and then picked up some lunch. Lucy ran into these guys as we walked around and asked for a picture with them. #thatsmygirl
It looks as though they are about to enjoy a tea party together, but then Emily dumped over the basket of dishes and all hell broke loose.
Lucy asked to take a picture of her stuffies. She took my phone, opened up the camera app on her own, flipped it to selfie mode, and took this little gem. Then she said “ok, let’s see how it looks” and hit the preview button. Again . . . #thatsmygirl
Along with window cleaning, we have also been slacking on floor mopping. It gets vacuumed at least three times a week, but it hasn’t been mopped since last Christmas! #embarrassingtoadmit
Now that Emmy is mobile and apparently interested in blowing raspberries on the floor, they really need to get a good cleaning. It’s the season of miracles, is it not? We shall see!
Lucy made the cutest gingerbread ornament at school and couldn’t wait to hang it on our tree.
When I asked her about the yellow ribbon across the eyes, she said it was a mask!
We don’t often have the TV on in the evenings, but Matty had a conference call Monday night after dinner, and I was tired of entertaining the girls on my own all day. Matty snapped this pic when he was finished with his call. I probably started and stopped about eight shows on Netflix before Lucy finally settled on Clifford.
It’s true what they say . . . when kiddos get too quiet they are up to no good. Lucy was playing so well in her room yesterday morning. When I went to check on her, she had climbed up on her chair to open the top drawer of her dresser to get out (what used to be) a tightly rolled up roll of small bags for dirty diapers. I keep these in the diaper bag, but had an extra roll stored in Lucy’s dresser. Apparently, her bunny had pooped and she needed a bag to put the dirty diaper in. How can I be mad at that??
We went to Trader Joe’s yesterday, and Lucy didn’t understand why Emily couldn’t sit in her little cart to be pushed around. Luckily, I distracted her with Moo Cow instead.
I’ve been on a simplifying/purging/organizing kick lately. A few months ago I read a tip that said all food storage containers should be clear so that you can easily see what is in your fridge. That made total sense to me! I finally ordered some new Rubbermaid containers from Amazon and transitioned over today. Here’s the before and after. Feels so good!
Post nap bottles and snuggles.
Last night Emily has some shredded chicken and some riced cauliflower and sweet potatoes. All of which she fed to herself. It was super messy, but she enjoyed it!
These two posts made me LOL, so I thought I’d share them here.
Alrighty, that’s all she wrote.
I may or may not do a Weekend Recap post, and will most likely not be blogging at all next week. I have a few projects I need to work on for Christmas presents, and have designated next week as my blog vacation so that I’m not tempted to blog instead of work on the projects. However, I might try to sneak something in during nap time. Only time will tell.
Have a great week, weekend, and next week!
XOXO
