And then some.
I skipped my usual Life Lately post last Thursday in order to do the 6 month comparison post, so I’m locked and loaded with random pictures to share.
The weather not being able to make up its mind, combined with the fact that Emmy is outgrowing clothes at an alarmingly fast rate, means that keeping her closet organized is a bit of a nightmare. Obviously, I can’t work on her closet while she’s sleeping, so I have to try and rotate clothes in and out while the girls are awake. It’s super fun and easy. #not
Just a couple of cuties in their Minnie Mouse Halloween pj’s before bed.
There was hair pulling and drooling involved in the group shot. Lucy was not a fan of either.
I usually try to get up by 6:00 to shower and get ready before Miss Roses wakes up. However, she’s consistently unpredictable (ha!) and often wakes up earlier than I anticipated. On those mornings, I put her in bed with Matty for a bit while I shower quick and get ready. She’s the cutest little wake up call I’ve ever seen!
Last Tuesday was Apple Day at school. Look at Lucy’s determination (and cheeks!) while using the tweezers to put apples on the tree.
They also had a super cute apple picking station set up.
My mom got Lucy to nap last Tuesday which was nothing short of a miracle. Emily enjoyed finally being able to get her hands on Lucy’s stuffies.
We had zero plans last Thursday, and it was chilly and rainy, so we headed to the mall. It’s really quite impossible to get any shopping done with both girls. One of them was constantly trying to get out of the stroller, and the other one was spitting up all over me and the carrier. But we did have a good time at the play place!
Emmy Roses finally got to try out the swing in the basement last week!
Lucy made crazy concoctions with her Play Doh while Emmy napped Friday morning.
We met up with some friends at the library, and Lucy really enjoyed sitting and reading to all the Pooh Bears. And pretending to change their diapers.
I left Emily lying on a blanket while I went to change out the laundry. I found her like this when I got back. #babyburrito
Matty had plans after work on Friday, so I was on my own for the evening and bedtime. Neither girl napped very well (or at all, in Lucy’s case), and things were getting dicey around 4:00pm. With a loooong three hours looming ahead of me, I loaded them in the stroller and they eventually fell asleep. I sat in the park and read my book for 20 minutes and then headed home to wake them up, so as not to affect bed time.
Except someone didn’t want to wake up! This has never happened before, and she looked so sweet!
We were looking forward to going to an open house at the Canton Fire Department on Saturday morning, but it rained all day long! So instead we braved the pouring rain and went to the grocery and rode the penny pony. Just as fun as touring the fire station and seeing demonstrations, right?! Nope!
Side note: Lucy is wearing my niece Sadie’s old raincoat. It’s still a little too big for her, but she outgrew her spring raincoat so this one came in handy.
And here it is: proof that miracles do happen. Lucy woke up at 6:15 Saturday morning, so after lunch I knew she had to be ready for a nap. It took lots of rocking and singing, but she fell asleep and stayed asleep when I put her in her crib . . . for THREE HOURS! And then Emily went down for a nap as well and slept for two hours! AND MATTY AND I TOOK A NAP!! It was amazing. It was so amazing, in fact, that not only did I forget Grandma Ri was coming over, but I was so sound asleep that I didn’t hear her text that she was here and waiting in the driveway for us to let her in . . . until 36 minutes after she sent it! #oops #greatestnapever #sorrygrandmari
Playing in her Bumbo chair for the first time.
Sunday morning we decided to try a new apple orchard that was 30 minutes away. We got there just in time for the wind to pick up and the rain to start. We high tailed it inside, ate some donuts, drank some cider, and then headed back home. I was so disappointed! We went to Erwin’s in South Lyon, and they had some cute things that Lucy would have liked to play on. We didn’t get to do a hay ride, pick apples, or get a pumpkin. Boo!!!
We needed to stop at a different grocery on the way home to grab some meat and things we didn’t get at Meijer. Matty needed a haircut, and we were going to be driving right by his haircut place, so we decided to stop. The plan was for him to go inside and get his haircut while I fed Emmy in the car so she’d be content at the grocery. I brought both girls up front with me and we hung out, read books, had a bottle, and felt the wind shake the car back and forth. We had to wait about 20 minutes or so, and it went surprisingly well.
And that’s that. The rest of Sunday was filled with grass cutting, food prep, and play time.
The only thing on my calendar for this week is school with Lucy on Tuesday. There’s no way I can just hang out at home for the other four days, so I’m definitely going to have to make some plans. It looks like we are in for a week of beautiful fall weather, so hopefully we’ll get outside and enjoy it!
Have a great week!
XOXO
From Sadie: Lucy and Emmy are both so cute and adorable in all the pictures! I love how Lucy is wearing my old rain coat and I also adore her cute little bun! Love, Sadie ๐
