Hey, Friends!
Sorry I missed my Sunday night post. We had a changing of the guard germs over the weekend. The girls finally started feeling better, and I started feeling terrible. The sore throat I can handle. But when I get that super bad stuffy nose/pressure in the head when I lay down/have to breathe with my mouth open kind of cold, I just feel miserable. I’ve had three nights in a row of terrible sleep due to a combination of my cold and Emmy Roses waking up. During the days, I’ve not been sick enough that I CAN’T function . . . but sick enough that I certainly don’t WANT to function. Know what I mean? Yesterday was the first day that I felt more tired than sick, so hopefully by the time you are reading this I have finally had a restful night!
Sit back and relax . . . we’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
Matty says that this super attractive candid shot he took of me this past weekend pretty much sums everything up!
This was last Thursday before my cold hit. Emmy was taking a great morning nap, and Lucy and I were hunkered on the couch catching up on our US Weeklies. Once I realized she was actually looking at the pictures, I switched it out with a Highlights for her.
She’s fussy, she’s teething, but she’s super cute!
Emmy slept at my parents’ Friday night for no reason other than to give me a little break. (Had I known this cold was going to hit me, I would have saved that break for a few days later!) Look how sweet she looked napping in her pack and play.
She was also busting a move in her stroller.
Lucy and I had a great Saturday morning. Matty took the dogs to the vet, Em was at my parents’, and Lucy and I played dress up until it was time to go get our flu shots! We talked about it a lot beforehand, but she was still a little nervous sitting in the waiting room. She watched me get mine first, and then didn’t even flinch when it was her turn! We were so proud of her, and she was proud of her Spiderman Band-aid!
After flu shots, Lucy and I drove down to pick up Emily and let Matty have some much deserved quiet time. Afternoon naps weren’t the greatest (except for Matty!), and everyone was a bit cranky (except for Matty!), so we turned on the kiddie movie Sing and vegged out for a bit. Twenty-two minutes to be exact, but it was still a nice, quiet 22 minutes!
My Sunday morning grocery buddy!
Those darn cashiers at Holiday Market always just offer up suckers without even asking me first. Lucy was so excited to show Matty and then to devour it!
A few minutes after we put Lucy down for her non-nap on Sunday, she called out that she had pooped. Apparently, she needed an audience because this is how Matty found her stuffies when he went in to get her.
Trying on some Halloween clothes I bought for her.
Lucy has turned into a dress up addict, and we love it! I think she was wearing every piece of play jewelry she owns in this picture.
Meanwhile, Matty and Emmy Roses were watching the Lions game together.
I am SO happy those 90+ degree days are over. We were playing with ice at 6:30pm and it was still 89 degrees out!
I had two goals for Monday: pick up Snort’s medicine from the vet, and buy strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries (per Lucy’s request). I was feeling pretty awful so Rita came over to watch Emily while I got Lu out of the house for a bit to run errands with me. What should have been a two minute visit to the vet turned into a fifteen minute visit because . . . toys!
We went to Fresh Thyme to get the fruit . . . and they didn’t have any of the three fruits Lucy had requested! What the heck?! They did have free bananas in the kiddie snack stand, though, so I guess it wasn’t a total wash. #stockmorefruit
Her face looks scared, but Lucy loves going down the curly slide with her feet up now!
And Miss Roses loves watching her!
This week’s theme at Lucy’s school was all about being clean. They washed dollies in the water table . . .
. . . gave the plastic animals a “bubble bath” with whipped cream . . .
. . . and read a story about animals who didn’t want to take a bath. Lucy managed to get three cups of apple juice before I cut her off. We don’t give her juice at home, so I think she’s trying to load up at snack time!
Lu got to be the wagon helper and pull the toys back to the door at the end of the day. So cute!
Play hard, (pretend) nap hard.
Emily’s legs NEVER stop moving. Seriously. This girl kicked me like crazy when I was pregnant, and she just never stops! In this picture I think she was super excited because she had just eaten sweet potatoes for the first time and loved them.
Lucy wanted a picnic lunch with Pink Snoopy.
I know there will come a time when I’ll long for the days when Lucy wanted to cuddle and watch Daniel Tiger with me. And I do try to cherish these sweet times. But sometimes, especially when I’m not feeling well and soooo tired, I just want her to TAKE A NAP! #nothappening
And that’s about it. Thanks to my mom, Rita, and Matty for being extra helpful this week while I was just trying to survive!
We have a busy weekend coming up . . two birthday parties on Saturday and I’m getting together with my mama friends for our 2nd annual scarf exchange on Sunday morning. And in between all that, we MUST get rid of the dead flowers on our front porch and replace them with some mums. Failure is not an option!
Oh, and I’ll also be praying that Matty doesn’t get our cold germs because . . . you know it’s true!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
