Holy Moly! Matty took Thursday and Friday off of work so we could go to the cottage and get a few things done. We had a birthday party Saturday afternoon so we had to head back home Saturday morning, and then there was Mother’s Day on Sunday. It was a long, busy, fun weekend!
Lucy got a new toy Wednesday evening. We have all tile and hardwood in our house, and now that Lucy is crawling around and pulling up on things, I’m constantly hovering around her in case she falls. When Grandma Rita suggested that Lucy needed a walker, I thought it sounded like a great idea! Lucy loves it, and so do we! She safely cruises around the house, and I can get dinner ready . . . put laundry away . . . and even run to the bathroom!! She’s especially good at going in reverse.
We had some beautiful weather during our two day stay at the cottage. Lucy loved the new cottage stroller . . . all she needed was Cousin Tommy sitting next to her. We can’t wait until Memorial Day to try it out with two babies!
There were lots of stories with Gram.
Lucy met Omar the Great Dane! He lives across the street. Omar’s owners have a two-year-old boy and a 4 month old boy as well. Lucy and I spent some time over there, and it’s fun to have some younger people with babies (and giant dogs!) at the lake.
This is Lucy’s “What is daddy doing to me?” face.
Accepting the fact that this is really happening.
She likes it . . . and it fits!
Lake selfie.
My view at 6am Friday morning.
My new favorite outfit for Lucy. I love the watermelon bloomers . . . and the pigtails, obviously!
Lucy LOVES looking at the pictures and videos on her Gram’s phone. She looks for a minute or two and then glances up and gives this sweet smile. It’s adorable.
Traveling with a baby is challenging, but the good part is that there usually aren’t a lot of chores to be done during nap time since I’m not at home. Sydney, on the other hand, gets nap time wherever she goes!
Checking out the water on our walk.
The first boat ride of the year!
I couldn’t resist making this little collage. We have August of last year and May of this year!
We drove home Saturday morning. We got home just in time for Lucy to eat lunch and take a little power snooze before heading to her friend Caroline’s first birthday party. Lucy sat on the table and enjoyed herself some pulled pork, cole slaw, fruit, cheese, and brownie. #littlepiggy
The birthday party was about 45 minutes away . . . and that was after our 2.5 hour drive home from the lake. This is Lucy’s “I’m tired of being in my car seat” face.
And now we’ve reached Mother’s Day! It started off with a few Birthday Cake Tim Bits. I had my first one several weeks ago and have been thinking about them every day since. Matty was sweet enough to get me a few to go along with my apple this morning.
And then Lucy brought me a present! Don’t know what’s going on with my silly face here, but I’ve got a super cute helper to open my gift.
I got the most beautiful necklace with Lucy’s initial on it. She wanted it for herself!
She pushed up off of me and stood right up without my help!
I’ll wear it every single day!
Business as usual with a morning trip to the grocery. Someone was very protective of the spaghetti squash.
After lunch we did the first part of Lucy’s birthday photo shoot. I swore to myself that I wasn’t going to share any until her birthday. Yet, here I am leaking a few sneak peeks! I truly can’t believe that one week from today she will be a year old!
“No, YOU’RE turning one!”
Behind the scenes.
To wrap up the day, my parents came over for dinner and ice cream. We went to the Alpine Chocolat Haus and it was delicious!! I had a little scoop of Birthday Cake and a little scoop of Peanut Butter Iditarod. I really can’t decide which was better!
These two have an anniversary coming up . . . it’s either 42 or 43 years. I can’t remember!
By the end of the day I was tired from the traveling and long weekend. Matty was tired from all the doting he did on me today. And Lucy? Well, she wasn’t quite ready for bed yet! Go to sleep, sweet baby!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
I am in full party planning mode this week to prepare for next Saturday’s festivities! If you need me, I’ll be looking at pictures and wondering where the past year went!
XOXO
