Lucy was feeling better this weekend but, unfortunately, Matty and I were not. It turns out that if you have a bad cold when you have a baby you don’t get to just rest on the couch all day long . . . it’s pretty much business as usual. Lovely! We were supposed to go out to dinner with friends on Saturday evening, but neither of us were feeling very well so we stayed home instead. It was Matty’s birthday on Sunday, and the only thing he wished for was a nap! Just a couple of party animals over here!
This picture is from last Monday, but I thought I’d include it anyway. Our sweet little nine-month-old baby girl!
On Friday Lucy and I had a play date with my friend Bridget and her daughter Grace.
Lucy went down a slide for the first time! Here I am explaining how it’s going to work.
I think she understood! The arms in the air crack me up! If she could talk, I’m pretty sure she’d be saying, “Wheee!”
After play time, Lucy and I had a very important job. Bridget is pregnant with her second baby, and had her gender ultrasound on Thursday! Even though they had the ultrasound on THURSDAY, Bridget and her husband decided to be super crazy and wait to see the results until their gender reveal party on SATURDAY! That’s 48 hours of having the gender of their baby in a sealed and stapled envelope but choosing not to look. This does not compute with me! ๐ Yes, I know that some people wait 9 months to find out if their baby is a boy or a girl . . . but I’m not one of those people!
So anyways, when we were over there on Friday, Lucy and I were handed the sealed envelope along with pink and blue balloons and a big box. Off we went to Party City to organize a gender reveal box for Bridget and Brian to pick up for their party on Saturday!
I pulled out of Bridget’s driveway, turned the corner, pulled over, and busted open that envelope! It’s a. . .
. . . BOY!!! So excited for Bridget, Brian, and Grace!
So that was our morning on Friday. And by the time I got home I was feeling pretty yucky from my cold. For a minute I thought, “I’ll call mom, she can come over and give me a hand with Lucy.” But my mom wasn’t home . . . or even in our state! She was on a well-deserved vacation in Florida visiting her friend, Dorothy! Jealous with a capital J!
You know those cute ponytails Lucy has been sporting lately? Well this is what she looks like when I take them out! haha Also, I’m not sure what her face or arms are doing in this picture.
Here she is enjoying the nice weather on a walk. Definitely could get used to this!
This next little group of photos are all from the baby monitor. We have a light up musical aquarium at the foot of Lucy’s crib that we put on for her at night. She’s recently discovered that she can turn herself around in her crib and flip the aquarium on and off, which I think is hilarious. Although, a few times she’s woken up in the middle of the night and turned it on herself which kind of freaked me out!
So this picture is from Saturday night. We put her to bed with her head at the opposite end of where it is now. She’s quite the mover and shaker in her crib! Matt had gone out to pick up food, and I sent him this picture to warn him that our evening might not be as peaceful as we’d hoped. She went to sleep soon afterward, though!
The next few are from 6:15 Sunday morning . . .ugh! She loves the aquarium!
On his birthday, Matty was kind enough to install a baby gate at the top of our stairs.
We usually mash up avocado for Lucy, but Matt gave her a big chunk at lunchtime and she enjoyed it for a bit.
For his birthday meal I made Matty meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn for dinner. He chose to go to Dairy Queen for dessert. Bring on the Blizzards! We gave Lucy her first bite of vanilla ice cream. She loved it, can’t you tell?! haha
So that was our weekend. We really enjoyed the beautiful weather, but not so much the illnesses. Hopefully we are all on the mend. Have a great week!
Yay, we made the blog! Thanks so much for the play date and for doing the balloon box. We were SO surprised and can't wait to meet our little guy! Lucy will be loving ice cream as much as her mama in no time ๐ Hope everyone is feeling better today! xo
I was so excited to share your pictures with everyone! There aren't many baby boys in the group, so this will be very exciting. I've decided that Lucy must have responded to ice cream that way because she assumed her first bite would be Strohs! haha
